In its 2nd year, Tied Down Detroit has become a titan amongst worldwide hardcore. No one in their right mind believed Detroit could pull 3k people for a multi-day festival. We have had plenty of small fests throughout the years, and more than just in Detroit. But this, this is different. This showcases not only Detroit hardcore, new and old. It showcases hardcore locals to cities like Flint, Kalamazoo, Windsor, Hamilton, Toledo, Grand Rapids, and others organically growing and continuing the tradition of hardcore. Detroit is one of a kind but it doesn’t breathe this much life into hardcore without these other spaces making the trek here for shows that don’t get to their towns and cities. I am thankful to the TDD heads and staff for letting me be on the media team for every event I can get to. This weekend in June of 2023 will go down as one of the most memorable in my life. Here’s a small glimpse into what I witnessed at Tied Down 2023.
