ONE STEP CLOSER @ EDGEMEN WITH KINGβS COMMAND, COURAGE, and THE DIVIDE
ONE STEP CLOSER
ALONG WITH KINGβS COMMAND, COURAGE, AND THE DIVIDE @ EDGEMEN SCREENPRINTING
ONE STEP CLOSER returned to Edgemen Screenprinting for a one-off Tuesday gig in between shows with the Menzingers and Touche Amore. The support was all Michigan bands. The Divide opened, and this was their first gig ever, and they blew us all away. I am very stoked to see what comes next after the first two tracks premiered recently online. Courage, who are also brand new, played second, and rounding out the support lineup was Kingβs Command, who absolutely bring it every show. Everyone on this bill sounds completely different. This is something I truly love about todayβs state-of-hardcore. Adjacent is more welcome than ever. People are taking chances with sounds and styles and finding inspiration from completely different places and things than ever before. This is what keeps me coming back: evolution. The status quo of hardcore will always be there. You will always be able to find heavy breakdowns and skate-punk or thrash-metal drum beats (depending on your taste). You donβt always find stuff like OSC on hardcore-only bills, as their sound has developed and matured outside of the first EP. I have watched this band live since 2022βs inaugural Tied Down festival and have seen them achieve things most bands only dream about. I feel this is the end of their beginning, as something new is on the horizon that more than likely will take them into the fucking stratosphere.
Check out over 200 pics. See ya!
