Guilt Trip, Malevolence, Chamber @ The Shelter
Guilt Trip | Malevolence | Chamber
Guilt Trip and Malevolence started their co-headliner tour at the infamous Shelter in Detroit, MI. Direct support for the tour is Nashvilleβs Chamber, and for the opening slot, Detroit Beatdown Hardcore Champions D-Bloc. I couldnβt get out of the house until after the doors opened, so I missed my friends in D-Bloc ripping the venue apart. Cam (Vocalist of D-Bloc) told me after the show that he saw me walk in the door right as they walked off. I tried! I had mentioned doing some press pics, but I felt like dog shit a little bit after I got there, so I knew Iβd be making my way home after the show. The good thing is that massive progress has happened this year in this regard, and I hope that some of the issues I am dealing with will be easier to deal with sooner rather than later. Anyway, we will get press pics here soon! The show was dope, although outside of the bands and staff, I didnβt recognize a single person, so thatβs cool. Meant I wasnβt in my comfort zone, but I was also super out of it. The kids have been home all week for Spring Break, so I have been on a whole other level of exhausted.
First off, not a dull moment musically. Frantic, anxious, driven, chaotic, odd timing, and just making my creative brain turn the fuck on. I think that best describes how I felt for most of the show. I am still knocking the cob webs off, especially at shows with no flash and restrictions that we donβt typically have in the DIY sector. A venue like The Shelter is pretty hard to get GREAT pics without using a flash, but you can still make things work.
Highly suggest getting to one of these shows on this run; these bands donβt hit the USA that regularly, and with the state of the world and the cost of touring rising, getting to a show now might seem more daunting than ever, but itβs still worth the trouble.
All apologies to D-Bloc for missing their set, sure they will be playing something dope here soon!
