SPY AND BALMORA join the two metalcore Titans at the Crofoot in Pontiac, MI
After a truly insane night at the Russell with Drain, No Pressure, Haywire, Secret World, and Cyadine, I didnβt even know if I had it in me to do this one. I was so whooped. I needed this weekend to whip me back into big show shape before the summer fests and tons of local shows to get swirly at. But how the fuck am I going to miss Poison The Well and Converge? That just seems silly coming out of my mouth. Two of the best in their respective genres brought their signature style with two more up-and-coming bands, SPY and Balmora. No strangers to Tied Down shows, as both have played the festival and other events! A kind of weird lineup that some outlets seemed to say didnβt work, but I was in the pit for the first two, and maybe kicked a teenager. It seemed to be a pretty rad show to me, with no barricades and stage dives. I had one of the best seats in the house, being side stage and then upstairs for some of it. Maybe some of these dorks at the metal blogs should stop and smell the roses and a little less of their own flatulence.
Just gotta say this real quick, I was stoned outside after SPY and I wrote this in my notes appβ¦

If anyone can clarify if that lady did end up puking or shitting herself and passing out, that would just make my day to laugh about.

Anyway, all these bands have music you should listen to. Converge is dropping a second record in a few months. Poison the Well put out their first record in 18 years, and it is incredible and just what any lifelong PTW fan has wanted. The show was insane, and all of the heavier shows at the Crofoot should be no barricade. Just how I feel about it. Security can lighten up a little once they figure out that we take care of our own. It will be alright, no matter what happens.
