Suicide Machines are THE punk band from Detroit. Almost everyone here who is into this shit will say the same thing. I have seen them so many times, I honestly have lost count. If you add in their other projects, it is well over 100 shows for me. 2 years ago, I was lucky enough to photograph them going b2b with Negative Approach in the same bar 2 nights in a row. Although I tried to do both nights, it did not work out for me! I was still able to catch the first show on Friday with openers Detroit 442. The drummer for that band is out of fucking control. Anyway, Suicide Machines played โWar Profiteering Is Killing Us Allโ in full for the 20th anniversary of the record. Seeing them at Smallโs is by far my favorite place to see them. As much as I love the chaos of pop-up shows at the Garden Bowl or Black Xmas gigs, festival appearances, shows at the Trumbullplexโฆ Smallโs is an environment unmatched anywhere else in the city. That is the doing of Mike and his staff and crew. This is why I say Smallโs is the best bar on the planet, and Iโm not the only one who feels this way. People from all over the country make the pilgrimage to see Suicide Machines play in that room specifically. Letโs get to the photos!
